NATO HQ Sarajevo hosts MEDEVAC/SAR Workshop
Earlier this month, NATO HQ Sarajevo hosted the MEDEVAC/SAR Workshop at PSOTC in Camp Butmir - Sarajevo. 35 people from various ministries and government agencies (MoD, MoH, MoS, Clinic Centers), USODC, EUFOR, Joint Staff and Air Force Brigade attended the event which was chaired by Mr. Ahmed OMEROVIĆ (Assistant Minister for Plans and Policies).
The purpose of the workshop was to assess the current status of MEDEVAC service and create an opportunity for discussion among different ministries/agencies with the goal of development and implementation of a common policy, aiming to use the MEDEVAC / SAR instrument in disaster relief situations. The event lasted three days, with particular focus on MEDEVAC for military purposes such as support operations at home and in NATO led Peace Support Operations. The assessments and proposals were based on the future use of the assets in an environment as close as possible to the NATO interoperability standards.
The event was led by NHQSa Chief TMAS, LTC Drago Magdic and the Air Force and Air Defense Standardization and Interoperability Advisor, LTC Fabio Linossi. It has certainly achieved the main objective of bringing together the key elements of various ministries and government agencies aimed at initiating the next step of drafting and signing the Book of Rules to make MEDEVAC service more efficient and decisive in emergency support situations.
