NHQSa visit to Ministry of Security of BiH

During a crisis or natural disaster, a properly coordinated response can save valuable time – and ultimately lives.

Today, during a visit to the Operational Communication Center (112) within the Ministry of Security of BiH, General Eric Folkestad discussed the NATO sponsored NICS system (Next Generation Incident Command System) which helps emergency services from across BiH and the region see and share real-time information on an incident.

NICS, which is part of NATO's Science for Peace and Security Programme (SPS) is being developed by universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA, and the Sarajevo school of Science and Technology. It will also be used during a large scale training exercise later this year.
