SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina - U.S. Army Brigadier General Giselle Wilz, NATO Headquarters Sarajevo commander, held a meeting with the BiH Minister of Security (MoS), Mr. Dragan Mektić, Mar. 4, 2016.
Key points of discussion focused on NATO HQ Sarajevo cooperation with the MoS, including the BiH Council of Ministers acceptance of the NATO initiative for a large 2016-2017 exercise in reponse to natural and other disasters that will be hosted byBiH.
"NATO can count on Bosnia and Herzegovina as partners in full capacity," said Minister Mektić. He added that intense MoS work will continue in the areas of combat against terrorism, civil – military cooperation, and combating radicalism and violent extremism, which has been an issue affecting the whole region of Western Balkans.
"NATO's cooperation with the Ministry of Security is very important, and that the Headquarters remains commited to continue supporting BiH in any way we can," said Gen. Wilz. She also added that NATO Alliance is currently looking into wider issues, such as cyber defence and the issue of migrations, realizing, at the highest level, the importance of these issues and support that can be provided.
This meeting marks an important continuation of the headquarters commitment to supporting the MoS, which shall continue in the future time period.
