NATO HQ Sarajevo marks 76th NATO Alliance Anniversary

Ambassadors from NATO's Allied nations have gathered on Camp Butmir today to mark 76th Anniversary of the NATO Alliance, and to attend the regular Bosnia-Herzegovina 'Heads of Mission' meeting.

The meeting, chaired by NHQSa Commander, Brigadier General Matthew Valas, allows senior diplomatic representatives to BiH from all NATO allies to discuss recent developments and different aspects of NATO's partnership with BiH.

NATO has been committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost three decades. As we mark 76th anniversary of the most successful alliance in history, our commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina and to regional stability remains firm. A stable and secure Bosnia and Herzegovina and a peaceful Western Balkans are in our strategic interest. In our 76th anniversary year, we will continue to demonstrate our unity, solidarity and resolve.

Marking the anniversary, Brigadier General Valas opened the exhibition on “30th anniversary of NATO’s Presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina.” The exhibition marks the most important milestones in the history of NATO and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Under the motto ‘Stronger Together’, the exhibition is also bringing together our complementary and mutually reinforcing missions under one roof: the mission of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and EUFOR Operation Althea.

The event was the opportunity to thank all of the NATO Allies for their contributions and commitment to supporting both NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, and a more stable future for everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
