„BiH MoD and the AFBiH have made significant progress to reach this stage in addressing the issue of surplus movable defense property...thereby creating better and more effective conditions for the disposal of surplus weapons and ammunition“, stated BG Matthew Valas today, at the opening of the Workshop on the Solution to the Issue of Sale of Surplus Movable Defense Property, hosted this week by BiH Ministry of Defense and BiH Armed Forces in the city of Doboj, and supported by British Embassy to BiH, and NATO HQ Sarajevo.

The Workshop will lay grounds to the review of surplus weapons, ammunition and secondary raw materials, resolving all outstanding issues, in order to enable smooth process of sale through the authorized brokers, after the signing of the Annex to the Doboj Agreement.

The Annex prescribes and introduces the procedure for commission sale and export of surplus movable property owned by Bosnia and Herzegovina - the Ministry of Defense of BiH, in full respect of the constitutional structure of BiH and the competencies of all levels of government. It relates to the surplus weapons and ammunition, as well as secondary raw materials generated in the process of their delaboration and/or destruction.
