AMMAN, Jordan – The 3rd Regional Collective Training Event Planning Workshop in support of REGEX 17 took place, Feb. 5-9. REGEX is a NATO supported opportunity for partner countries to plan and conduct an exercise from beginning to end and tailored to their specific training requirements. Jordan has taken the lead for REGEX 17 and is the first Mediterranean Dialogue Partner to lead.

A Joint Force Command Naples J7/J9 REGEX team, headed by French Army Lieutenant-Colonel Christophe Le Cerf, J7 training and exercise future operations exercise delivery section head, mentored the workshop where 46 participants from 19 Partner Countries and 10 officers from the Host Nation took part.

During the main planning conference, in his opening remarks, Brigadier General Amjad Alzo'ubi, the director of collective training centre, thanked all the participants in this partnership event. He stressed the importance of REGEX 17, pointing out that Jordan faces a lot of challenges in the Middle East, this exercise based on Security Operations will help Jordan to improve the readiness of its Armed Forces.

In what proved to be a productive week, the workshop focused on the development of the Exercise Plan (EXPLAN) and conducting the Exercise Main Planning Conference following the premises of the Bilateral Strategic 75-03.

In order to build confidence and establish rapport among the participants and the 91st Armored Brigade Headquarter, the primary training audience, REGEX participants paid a visit to the 91st Brigade where they could see the brigade’s main materials and capabilities.

JFC Naples is planning to conduct three more REGEX 17 workshops before the Execution Phase in September 2017. This initiative supports NATO objectives by building trust and understanding which promotes better cooperation in the region while also increasing interoperability with NATO.
